YFCU members to attend Spirit of Enniskillen workshops

YFCU members from clubs in counties Antrim and Londonderry are preparing to attend a series of workshops with members from local GAA clubs.

The first workshop takes place on Tuesday 30th October 2012, 7.30pm at the Millennium Centre, Loughguile for YFCU members from Finvoy YFC, Glarryford YFC and Ahoghill YFC.

YFCU has recently held popular cross community days at Corrymeela and GAA sports taster sessions at NI Rally Day.

This series of workshops will be based on the theme of Dealing with Difference.

These workshops will be facilitated by Spirit of Enniskillen which is a charity that focuses on bringing together young people from different backgrounds/communities and giving them the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops.

This initiative involves YFCU clubs in Co Antrim and Co Londonderry. Ideally members should be aged 16 – 25 years of age and between 8–10 members from each club can attend on the evening. The workshop will begin at 7.30pm and will last two hours with tea/coffee

Once the series of seven workshops have taken place, up to 15 YFCU members can volunteer to attend a final workshop which will consist of members developing an interactive tool such as a short film/presentation which it is hoped will then be used by YFCU and GAA members to show other club members what the project was all about and encourage them to explore how different communities can work together.

The workshops are facilitated by volunteers from the Spirit of Enniskillen Trust which is an award winning charity based in Belfast established in 1989 inspired by the words of the late Senator Gordon Wilson following the loss of his daughter, Marie, in the 1987 Enniskillen bomb.

The timetable for the workshops is as follows:
