LYLEHILL Young Farmers' Club have had a very busy and successful month, having taken part in various competitions and holding a number of club meetings.
Club members headed off to Aunt Sandra's Candy Factory, and were shown the process of making sweets and chocolate, along with being given some samples.
Members have also held the Home Management Competition as a club meeting, with approximately 40 m
embers taking part and therefore all gaining proficiency. After making cocktails, designing flip flops, decorating a Christmas garland and doing some first aid, the top four of each category were chosen to go through to the next round.
Junior: Zara Price, Alison Wilson, Claire Taylor and Megan Uprichard.
Senior: Judith Murdock, Lyndsey McLeod, Jayne Noble and Kathy Graham.
Thanks go to Joanne Watt and Diane Spence who gave up their time to come along and judge the competition.
Two Lylehill members have also taken part in the public speaking Northern Ireland final. Both were placed with Stephanie McCollam coming 3rd in the 18-21 impromptu and also gaining the county award and Carolyn Wilson coming 2nd in the 18-21 prepared.
Thanks go to public speaking coach Jean McCollam who gave up her time to help members with their speeches and delivery.
Two teams from Lylehill have also taken part in the Group Debating Competition. The 16-18 team of Stephen Leitch, Gregory Heaney and Ryan McCoy narrowly missed out on a spot in the final but the senior team of Stephanie McCollam, Lorraine Taylor and Christina McCollam made it through to the Northern Ireland final of the 18-21 category.
We wish them the best of luck and thanks go to group debating coach Judith Leitch who helped members prepare for the event.
Four teams from Lylehill have also taken part in the County Quiz, which recently took place in the Adair Arms Hotel in Ballymena. The two junior teams consisted of Megan Uprichard, Victoria Price, Stacey Bates, Ryan McCoy, Ashleen Price, Gregory Heaney and Scott Logan. The two senior teams consisted of Stephanie McCollam, Emma Fleming, Christina McCollam, Lorraine Taylor, Claire Sherrard, Caroline Sherrard and Kathy Graham.
For more information on the club or for details on any events being held, please contact club secretary Christina McCollam on 07999306593.
