Busy start to the season at Lylehill

LYLEHILL Young Farmers' Club have had a busy and successful start to their winter programme.
Following the first meeting, Lylehill now have approximately 70 members. The second meeting consisted of a pottery evening, where members got the chance to decorate Christmas decorations. Members enjoyed painting and glazing clay moulds and a great e
vening's craic was had by all. The next meeting was Combat Fitness where members' fitness was put to the test.
The Halloween meeting consisted of a Ghost Trail where members were led through fields whilst being told ghost stories about past members of Lylehill YFC and the spooky things that happened to them. Thanks for the success of this evening are extended to all those past members who helped, in particular Club President James Watt and Johnny Meekin.
Lylehill YFC have also taken part in various Young Farmers' competitions. Christina and Stephanie McCollam took part in the Floral Art in Ballymoney with the theme being 'Splendour of Autumn', both narrowly missing out on a spot in the final.
Nine members took part in the club public speaking competition which was kindly judged by past members Dianne Jones and Alan Wallace. The results were as follows:
12-14 - 1st Megan Uprichard
14-16 -1st Caroline Leitch; 2nd Allison Wilson; 3rd Ryan McCoy
16-18 - 1st Stephen Leitch
19-25 - 1st Christina McCollam; 2nd Stephanie McCollam; 3rd Carolyn Wilson; 4th Kathy Graham
Impromptu - Stephanie McCollam
All of the above members also took part in the public speaking area final at Ballee High School in Ballymena. Lylehill members turned out in force and four members made it through to the county Antrim final.
14-16 - Stephen Leitch
18-21 Prepared - Carolyn Wilson and Christina McCollam
18-21 Impromptu - Stephanie McCollam
21-25 Prepared and Impromptu - Kathy Graham
Two members then made it through to the Northern Ireland final on 5th November in Ballymena. The two members through to the final were 18-21 Prepared - Carolyn Wilson and 18-21 Impromptu - Stephanie McCollam.
Lylehill also enjoyed a huge amount of success at the County Dinner. Lylehill members picked up an impressive number of county awards as follows:
Christina McCollam - Craftwork and Presentation and Demonstration
Stephanie McCollam - Beef Judging, Sheep Judging, Silage Assessment, Public Speaking
Stephanie McCollam, Christina McCollam and Carolyn Wilson - Group Debating
John Healy - Sheep Judging
Kathy Graham - Best County Secretary
Ryan McCoy - Swimming
Megan Uprichard - Craftwork
