TYRONE Young Farmers' celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of the YFCU are getting underway as the county prepares itself for a very hectic weekend around Omagh Show on Saturday 4th July 2009.
To kickstart the celebrations, a number of the 2008 Miss Macra entrants will be welcomed to Omagh as the county plays host to the ladies for the weekend. The girls will be involved in various aspects of the show and are looking forward to seeing around one of the largest agricultural shows in the North West.
Tyrone YFC members will also have plenty to keep them occupied at the show. The Home Management contest will get the competitions for the day underway with participants asked to design a three course menu under the theme of 80th Anniversary Celebrations. Clubs will be putting their artistic flairs to the test to produce a poster to promote their club under the new YFCU theme: Help and encourage others! A photographic competition will be held with the categories Green, NI Landscapes and Babies and the floral art themes for the year being Lunch Box (for age groups 12-16) and Eye Catching (for age groups 16-25).
To help round off the afternoon's activities in the main arena, on behalf of Tyrone Farming Society, the county has organised a "Strong Man" competition which is open for everyone to participate in. A number of games have been designed to be accessible for males and females alike and with prize money on offer, it promises to be an excellent afternoon of fun and games.
The day will be rounded off with a Steak BBQ and Dance to be held in Omagh Rugby Club with music by live band Klass on Saturday 4th July. The night will provide an excellent opportunity for past and present members and friends of the Association to gather together to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the YFCU.
Tickets are now on sale priced at £12.50 and should be booked early to avoid disappointment. Please contact any Tyrone club or Elaine on 07746900356 for tickets.
