WHEN the members of Coleraine YFC set off for the Armagh City Hotel for the annual conference and AGM they were completely unaware that they would be returning home laden down with silverware.
The Friday evening entertainment was organised by the Co Armagh committee, with this year's fancy dress theme as Disney - a very enjoyable night was had by all.
Saturday morning brought some tired faces, but before embarking on the agenda for the morning the members were fuelled with enthusiasm and tucked into a delicious breakfast, kindly sponsored by Fleming Agri Products. Refreshed and revived members took part in a programme of workshops. Members were now energised for the AGM in the afternoon.
The presidential team for 2009/10 was voted in, congratulations to all elected and especially to our own member James Taylor, who was voted as one of the four vice-presidents.
This was only the beginning of Coleraine's success. Kathryn Taylor achieved numerous places in the 'Ulster Young Farmer of the Year' - third in the arable section, second in the pigs/poultry section and overall second Best under 21.
She also collected the Northern Bank Cup for 1st place in the finance section. Steven Moore then went on to receive third place overall in the Junior Young Farmer of the Year and William Cochrane collected his number 10 proficiency badge showing his dedication to the organisation over the years as a member.
Coleraine YFC dominated the competitions once more, to bring five out of six CEO special cups back to Coleraine. This was an achievement that is unique to Coleraine and shows the strengths, dedication and hours of hard work put in by all the members.
To celebrate their success the members changed into their glad rags and attended the conference dinner dance where they boogied into the early hours of the morning.
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, friends and coaches who have supported the club over the past year, without them the club's tremendous success would not have been possible.
Thanks are extended to all the members of Coleraine YFC who have put in many hours of hard work and dedication.
