COLERAINE Young Farmers' Club members are thankful that their hours of hard work paid off in the public speaking area competitions and final.
With over 30 members travelling to Garvagh High School to take part in the area competition, the nerves set in.
All gave of their best and this was reflected in the placings as Coleraine members gained a well earned nine out of the 16 potential places.
The seven members - Chantelle Murdoch, Philip Black, Rebecca Crowe, Joanne Smyth, Kathryn Smyth, Hilary Cameron and Kathryn Taylor, travelled to Banbridge High School to participate in the finals. Once again, they proved that they were the country's top talkers by gaining four overall places and bringing two cups back to Coleraine.
Results were:
14-16: 1, Joanne Smyth; 2, Rebecca Crowe.
16-18: 2, Kathryn Smyth.
18-21: Prepared - 2, Kathryn Taylor.
18-21: Impromptu - 1, Kathryn Taylor.
Thanks are extended to Mae Cameron, Kaye Henry and Valerie Cochrane for their hard work and patience.
