THE YFCU Annual Beef and Sheep Stockjudging County and Area Heats, run in association with Ulster Bank, continued last week.
Following the first heat for Counties Down and Armagh, the County Londonderry heat took place on Tuesday 24th June in Maghera with Peter Russell from Ulster Bank, Magherafelt in attendance.
On Wednesday 25th June the County Antrim heat took place in Cullybackey with Ann Caldwell from Ulster Bank attending and the Area heat for Counties Tyrone and Fermanagh was held on Thursday 26th June in Lisnaskea.
Each of the County and Area Heats consisted of five age groups made up of YFCU members from various clubs in each County. The top four competitors from each County age group have made it through to the grand final of the YFCU Beef and Sheep Stockjudging Competition which will be held on Wednesday 2nd July 2008 at CAFRE, Greenmount Campus.
YFCU President, Adrian Cooper, expressed his delight at the success of the County and Area Heats.
"The County and Area Heats have been ongoing all week and to have such a good turn out at each heat reflects the popularity of this event. The grand final on Wednesday 2nd July 2008 will certainly be a tightly contested event.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ulster Bank for their continued support with the Annual Beef and Sheep Stockjudging Competition and also to thank the Judges and Stewards who gave their time to help run the heats", Adrian added.
