HOLESTONE YFC will this year be celebrating 65 years of success. To celebrate club members are taking part in a charity tractor pull on Saturday 6th September.
Members will leave Asda Carpark in Ballyclare at 10-30 am and make our their through the town into Doagh, finishing up at the Annual Donkey Derby in Parkgate.
On this date the club will also be hosting a charity boilersuit disco in The Fort Royal I
nn, Ballymena, Doors open at 9pm, everyone over 18 welcome.
In addition to the tractor pull and disco there will be a 65th Anniversary dinner/dance in Rosspark Hotel on Saturday 28th February 2009.
All past, present members, friends and family very welcome. All proceeds from the charity events will be donated to our chosen charity, Diabetes UK.
This year has already started off in true Holestone style. Melanie McClean, James McClintock, and David Boyd pulled out all the stops to get through to the dairy judging finals with Melanie gaining 1st place in the 18-21 age group and James coming 2nd in the 21-25 age group.
The boys in Holestone also pulled their way to the semi final in the tug of war competition at Balmoral show gaining 3rd place. In addition the club was placed at various sports nights throughout the summer, in tug of war, boys football and girls football.
Another successful event for the club was the annual "build it" competition where JR McAuley, Thomas McAuley, Melanie McClean and Lorna Duff were awarded 1st place.
If you are 12 and over and would like to become part of all the fun and success our first club meeting is a games night on Tuesday 2nd September at 8pm and will be held in our club hall, Grange Road Parkgate. All new member very welcome!
