FRIDAY, November 13 saw 210 past and present members and friends of Kells and Connor Young Farmers celebrate 50 years at the Rosspark Hotel, Kells. It was a smashing evening with a four course meal and entertainment by Sunshine.
The club would like to thank the Rosspark Hotel for their brilliant hospitality and the much enjoyed meal. The venue was exceptional as always and the club and guests were made to feel very welcome.
The club would also like to express appreciation t
o guest speakers, Pam Robinson and Mayor of Ballymena, James Currie, for kindly accepting the club's invitation and favouring the club with a few words.
Also thanks is extended to Barbara White (first club secretary of Kells and Connor YFC) for attending the evening and sharing the special job of cutting the anniversary cake with Lyndsey Montgomery (present club secretary). Also thanks are extended to the past and present club members who bravely gave speeches on the night.
The club would also like to thank William Robert Graham for thoughtfully donating a new cup and shield to the club for stockjudging competitions.
The club is also grateful to Margaret Irwin (secretary Kells and Connor senior citizen) and Christopher Brown (assistant treasurer of Kells and Connor development committee) for attending the evening and accepting cheques presented to them by Paul Fleming (treasurer of Kells and Connor YFC).
The club would also like to give a special thanks to everyone who attended the club's 50th anniversary and to everyone who generously bought raffle tickets which has enabled the club to buy a goat and send it to Bothar – a project which is being led by the Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster which is marking its 80th anniversary this year by sending 80 goats to underprivileged countries.
There is no doubt that Kells and Connor Young Farmers club have received such enthusiastic support over the last 50 years and the club is extremely grateful and only hope it will continue for the next 50 years.
