NUMBERS of Young Farmers taking part in the Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster annual Demonstration Presentation Competition are on the up with participation increasing by 57% in this year's contest.
The competition provides members with the opportunity to employ a combination of different skills that they use in other YFCU contests including prepared and impromptu public speaking. It then incorporates these with the use of practical aids and pr
esentation equipment which then serves to enable members to further develop their communication and presentation skills.
This year the competition was divided into four age groups based on entrants - 12-14 years, 14-16 years, 16-21 years and 21-25 years. Competitors were given a maximum of 5 or 10 minutes to speak about or demonstrate a topic of their choices.
At the event, judges Trevor Woods, Jean McCollam, Regis Topping and Maura Ellis were given a diverse range of presentations to judge ranging from how to play the violin to making flowers out of plastic bottles.
After careful deliberation, the judges made their decision and the results were as follows:
12-14 Years
