THE Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) held their annual Junior Conference on Saturday, 23rd August 2008 at the Share Holiday Village, Enniskillen.
Over sixty Junior Members of the YFCU from throughout Northern Ireland had the opportunity to once again gather at the Share Holiday Village where they were able to take part in various activities throughout the day.
Following an ice breaker session for all the members to get to know each other, the conference participants split into groups and attended morning workshops. Linda Steele and Joe Crawford led the drama workshop which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
Claire Leonard from YFCU led a Drugs Awareness workshop which used interactive activities to highlight the serious issues facing young people involving drugs.
Francis George from Moneyrea YFC provided a Proficiency Scheme workshop to remind members that they can work towards gaining the badges of the Proficiency Scheme by participating in YFCU competitions and events.
The final workshop on offer at the Junior Conference provided members with the opportunity to try something new - kurling! Under the tuition of Roisin Henry from the Lakeland Forum, members had the opportunity to try their hand at kurling. This proved to be a fun filled activity!
At lunch members received goodie bags kindly donated by the Livestock & Meat Commission for NI and then it was onto the afternoon schedule. This consisted of many outdoor activities including banana boating, canoeing, climbing and archery. So it was a tired but happy bunch of Junior Members that left the conference after an action packed and informative day!
