OVER 150 YFCU members descended on CAFRE Loughry Campus for the ever popular Ulster Bank sponsored NI Quiz last Friday.
The quiz consisted of eight rounds of ten questions and included a picture and music round.
Moneyrea A Star were crowned the winners for the second year in a row. They received the top prize of £300 for their club, which was kindly provided by Ulst
er Bank. The winning team was made up of Frances George, Jennifer Townley, Beth Gregg and Jonathan Connolly.
Second place went to a second team from Moneyrea YFC, Moneyrea A, which was made up of William McMordie, Jennifer McMordie, Ruth Marshall and Robert Wallace.
They were awarded £200 for their club and in third place, receiving £100, came Hillhall YFC whose teams members were Lily Hulatt, Robert Pershaw, Alexander Sleator and Philip Poots.
Cormac McKervey from Ulster Bank, who attended the event and took part in the quiz with his son, commented: "We were delighted to sponsor this competition once again. To have such a large turnout of members on such a wintery evening is testament to how much the members enjoy the quiz. Our congratulations to Moneyrea A Star, Moneyrea A and Hillhall YFC and we are sure they will put the prize money to good use in helping to further promote and develop their clubs."
While the markers were totting up all the scores from the NI Quiz, an extra element was added to the night in the form of a rare breeds picture competition. The team from Derg Valley YFC, consisting of Gareth Young, Alison Crockett, Adam Crockett and Emma Cummings were successful and won four tickets to the Balmoral Show kindly donated by Ulster Bank.
The Association would like to take this opportunity to thank Cormac McKervey from sponsor Ulster Bank for his support and help, CAFRE Loughry Campus who provided the superb venue, Willie Wilson for setting the excellent questions, Thoburn McCaughey for his services as quiz master on the night and everyone who helped with the stewarding and marking on the night.
