MONEYREA Young Farmers' Club is celebrating 75 years of the club's existence, from March 1933 to March 2008.
The club is holding its 75th anniversary dinner dance on Friday, March14, in the La Mon Hotel, Gransha, at 7.30pm.
Everyone at the club is extremely busy preparing for the big celebration. Members have put together all the memorabilia which will show 75 years of Moneyrea club activities.
The committee invites all past, present members and friends of Moneyrea to come along and help it celebrate.
The entertainment will be provided by Housty.
Tickets are £22.50 and can be purchased from Jennifer Townley, the club secretary on 028 9752 8108. Everyone is encouraged to come along to the anniversary dinner, as it promises to be a great night's craic.
Congratulations are extended to Heather Long and Neal Perry who got engaged on Friday, February 29.
Moneyrea's most recent club meeting took the form of a mystery tour to James Gilpin's farm in Comber, for a surprise stockjudging practice. Members had the chance to learn about sheep stockjudging, beef stockjudging and dairy stockjudging.
Members were interested and keen to learn from the judges Brian Scott, William McMordie and James Gilpin.
Members also had the chance to taste some beef and dairy products. Everyone fairly enjoyed the night and look forward to more stockjudging practices and the stockjudging competitions. Thanks are extended to the judges for giving up their free time.
Moneyrea recently held their charity car wash in aid of Fields of Life in Africa. Thanks are extended to everyone who helped and to everyone who supported the club in raising money.
Junior members who wish to go on the County Down Junior Weekend at Greenhill YMCA in Newcastle, from Friday to Sunday, March 28 to 30, are asked to speak to Jennifer Townley or Heather Long at the next club meeting for further details.
This event is open to all junior members and is also a way to meet other young people from other clubs.
