DONNA Beacom from Kesh YFC has been awarded the Northern Bank YFCU 80th anniversary bursary.
To mark the 80th anniversary of YFCU, Northern Bank generously offered a one-off bursary for a YFCU member aged over 18 years to represent the Association and attend this year's Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth's (RASC) bi-annual confer
ence as a Next Generation delegate.
Donna will be attending this year's conference in Edinburgh from 26th to 30th June 2010. As a Next Generation delegate she will have the opportunity to attend presentations specifically tailored for younger delegates prior to participating in the main conference which commences on Monday, 28th June 2010.
John Henning from Northern Bank said: "The Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster has been celebrating its 80th anniversary over the past year. At Northern Bank we wanted to help mark this milestone in a tangible way and the idea of a bursary enabling a YFC member to attend this prestigious conference was born.
"We are delighted that Donna Beacom has now been awarded the Northern Bank 80th anniversary bursary and hope she enjoys her participation in the Next Generation Conference and Commonwealth Agricultural Conference later this month."
He continued: "The RASC promotes the development of show societies and best practice farming throughout the Commonwealth. Participation in the 24th Commonwealth Agricultural Conference will be a unique experience and should provide tremendous networking and personal development opportunities for Donna and help further establish links between the YFCU and RASC which could be mutually beneficial for both organisations in the future."
The RASC was founded in 1957 by its President HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT and the principle objective of the society is to hold conferences to give members and other interested organisations allied to farming the opportunity to network and explore their interests and mutual problems in agriculture. It is the only Non Governmental Organisation representing agriculture across the Commonwealth and plays an important role in building links between member agricultural show societies including the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society in Northern Ireland.
Key speakers from various organisations will lead daily discussions. For full conference content check out www.commagshow.org
