MONEYREA Young Farmers' Club recently participated in the one-act drama competition in Newtownards with the play entitled 'A Bride for Heatherhill,' by Joe Corrie.
Set in the 1950s in a Scottish farmhouse, it centred around a farming family who were looking for a wife for their son, in order to continue the family name, Buchan.
The son, played by James Gilpin, had no notion of getting married but in order to
get his father to retire, played by Johnny Connolly, he had to find himself a wife quickly and then 'Heatherhill' would be his.
This was a hilarious play, greatly enjoyed by the audience.
The cast was: Johnny Connolly as Adam Buchan; Valerie Orr as Kirsty Buchan; James Gilpin as Tam Buchan, and Frances George as Jean Lowry.
It's well done to the cast of a 'Bride for Heatherhill,' which came third in the one-act drama competition and won an award for the best set, presented at the recent drama dinner in the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena.
Congratulations also go to Frances George, James Gilpin and Valerie Orr who all received a merit for acting.
