Andrew Hornall ARAgS is the new chairman of the British Charolais Cattle Society Ltd

The high quality beef produced supplies his Falleninch Farm butchery business.

With 20 breeding Charolais cows, Hornall’s focus on strong maternal traits ensures that his Falleninch Herd (a member of the SRUC Premium Cattle Health Scheme and Breedplan) is a regular and successful exhibitor at shows and sales.

The family business, of which Mr Hornall is managing director, is a wholesale foodservice provider and retail butcher with commercial property letting and land development interests. He is also a director of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland with responsibility for Chairing of the Public Relations and Education Committee (one of three main RHASS standing Committees).

Mr Hornall is a well-known figure in the show ring, with many successes to date that include winning the Supreme Overall Championship at the Royal Highland Show in 1996, 1997 and 2003.

In addition, he also won the coveted Burke Trophy at The Royal Show in 1997 with two of his own animals in the year of the Charolais Convention at Stoneleigh and also won the Perth Bull Sales in 1995 and the Stirling bull sales in 2016.

The Falleninch Herd continues to win numerous awards at National and Local show level, most recently picking up the Junior Championship prize at the Royal Highland Show in 2016.

Mr Hornall Andrew has been a member of the Charolais council for the past five years, a Breedplan Committee member for four years and an executive member for two years.

He has been on the judge’s panel since 2001 and has judged in shows across Europe, with many highlights including the Royal Welsh Show, the Irish Charolais Cattle Society National Show and Sale and Stirling Bull Sale.

With strong financial, commercial and marketing experience gained over many years in developing his own successful business and in his various other roles, Mr Hornall will keep the society in good stead throughout his term in office.
