Potato Festival returns to the Causeway Coast

The festival, now in its fourth year, will return to the Causeway Coast this October, bringing together members of the public and the farming community to celebrate all aspects of the local potato industry.

This year the event will combine with the National Trust Open Day at the Giant’s Causeway, meaning visitors not only get to visit the festival for FREE but also the world renowned Giants Causeway, providing an entirely FREE fun day for all the family.

The festival will kick off on Thursday 29th September at 11am with a guided tour of Chipmaster, one of Northern Ireland’s leading growers and producers of potatoes. The tour itself will provide an insight into how Chipmaster is managed all year round. If you would like to attend the tour, please register in advance by contacting 077 5909 2927.

On the Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm – a community evening with live music has also been arranged in the Causeway Hotel.

On Saturday 1st October from 10am to 5pm, the Northern Ireland Potato Festival in conjunction with the National Trust Community Open Day will host a fun filled day for the public.

“From cookery demonstrations to artisan foods and from children’s activities to craft demonstrations and stands this event will not disappoint, said Mr Chestnutt, who added that visitors will also get the opportunity to visit the Giant’s Causeway, free of charge on the Saturday.

“The festival itself was initiated to celebrate the memory of John Clarke – Ireland’s most famous potato breeder who was from North Antrim - and we are delighted to be working with the National Trust in making this event a huge success,” he said.
