17-year-old charged with 23 motoring related offences

A 17-year-old male has been charged with 23 motoring related offences, including four counts of dangerous driving, four counts of using a motor vehicle without insurance and causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving.

The charges relate to a road traffic collision on the Drumlough Road, Rathfriland, yesterday (18 July), in which a police vehicle was rammed by a car and two officers had to be taken to hospital due to their injuries.

The teenager is due to appear before Newry Youth Court on Friday 5 August.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
