Balcas offer bursary to study in Dublin

Balcas is demonstrating its commitment to local education, employment and it’s own sustainability goals by supporting a new degree course developed by Technical University Dublin (TUD). Balcas will offer a bursary to study this brand-new, 4 year honours degree in Sustainable Timber Technology (BSc Hons).

This bursary will involve financial assistance for the student, paid summer placement commencing July 2021 and potential Postgraduate Employment.

Commencing September 2021, this is the only programme in Ireland educating timber technologists for all parts of the Timber Industry.

Balcas Chief Executive Officer, Brian Murphy explained: “Supporting this new course with TU Dublin is part of a wider educational engagement programme that we have been developing at Balcas.

“We continue to develop our Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes with the core aim of targeting young talent to build and grow the intellectual capital of the company. We are delighted that TU Dublin have created this opportunity and we are committed to working with them to develop sustainable careers for our future leaders.”

With more than a year of being inside, there has never been a better opportunity to embrace the outdoors and consider a career as a timber technologist!

Balcas will hold an “open day” event on 14th April, 11:00 – 12:00 am offering a virtual tour of Balcas, an overview of Balcas operations, case studies, further information on the BSc (Hons) Sustainable Timber Technology and a Q&A session.
