Beef bullocks selling to £1615 at Markethill Mart

An entry of 620 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 10th April maintained an exceptionally strong demand in all rings.

Heifers

200 heifers included several pens of beef heifers which sold to a top of £238 per 100 kilos for 640k at £1525 for a Camlough farmer followed by 638k at £1495 £234 from a Newtownhamiton farmer.

All good quality finished heifers sold readily from £220 to £234 per 100 kilos.

Forward feeding heifers sold to £240 per 100 kilos for 578k at £1385 from a Loughgall farmer.

The same owner received £237 per 100 kilos for 584k at £1385.

Good quality middleweight heifers sold steadily from £220 to £269 per 100 kilos for 370k at £1000 from a Keady farmer.

The same owner received £251 per 100 kilos for 372k at £935.

Top price middleweight heifer £1175 for 498k Limousin £236 from a Newtownhamilton producer.

Main demand for good quality beef bullocks from £210 to £223 per 100 kilos. Forward feeding bullocks sold to £243 for 590k at £1435 from an Armagh farmer followed by £242 per 100 kilos for 510k at £1235 from a Derrynoose farmer.

A Katesbridge producer received £239 per 100 kilos for 600k at £1435.

Main demand for good quality forward bullocks from £215 to £233 per 100 kilos.

Middleweight bullocks sold to a top of £261 per 100 kilos for 470k at £1225 from a Newtownhamilton farmer.

The same owner received £253 per 100 kilos for 460k at £1165.

All good quality middleweights sold steadily from £220 to £250 per 100 kilos.

Friesian bullocks sold in the best trade this spring to a top of £210 per 100 kilos for 590k at £1245 from a Newtownhamilton farmer followed by £196 per 100 kilos for 590k at £1155.

Several heavy Friesian bullocks sold from £1100 to £1170 each.
