Bullock selling to £1470 at Markethill Mart

An entry of 110 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 23rd March maintained a very good trade with good quality beef bred cows from £150 to £183 per 100 kilos for 740k at £1365 from a Rathfriland farmer followed by £180 for 680k at £1225 from an Armagh producer.

Younger cows to £196 for 580k at £1135 from an Armagh producer.

Clean cattle sold to £207 for 710k Aberdeen Angus bullock at £1470 from a Loughgall producer.

Fleshed Friesian cows sold from £120 to £141 per 100 kilos for 700k at £985 from a Kilkeel farmer with a top price of £1070 for 780k at £136 from an Armagh farmer.

Second quality Friesian cows sold from £100 to £115 and the poorest types from £80 to £95 per 100 kilos.

210 calves maintained a very strong trade with bull calves under six weeks old selling to £480 for a four week old Belgian Blue followed by £465 for a five week old Belgian Blue. Aberdeen Angus bulls sold to £440 followed by £405 and £350.

Good quality heifer calves under six weeks sold to £435 for a Belgian Blue for a four week old Belgian Blue followed by £330 for five week old Belgian Blue.

All good quality heifers from £240 to £300 each.

Good quality Friesian bulls sold from £70 to £125.
