Dairy stock sold to £1910 at Markethill on Tuesday 2nd March paid for a calved heifer from a Markethill producer.

The same owner received £1820 for a calved heifer.

An entry of Holstein maiden heifers from a Newry producer sold to a top of £800 with others at £760 and £730.

In calf heifers sold up to £1530 for a shorthorn from a Forkhill farmer.

Cull cows

110 cull cows sold in a steady demand.

Cow/heifers to £206 per 100 kilos for 500k at £1035.

Good quality beef bred cows from £150 to £188 per 100 kilos for 770k at £1455 from a Banbridge farmer followed by £172 per 100 kilos 688k at £1185 from a Dromara farmer.

Fleshed Friesian cows from £117 to £130 for 740k at £965 from a Kilkeel farmer.

Second quality Friesians from £95 to £110 and the poorest types from £80 to £90 per 100 kilos.

Fat bulls sold to £129 per 100 kilos for 1090k Aberdeen Angus at £1405 and up to £1575 for 1230k Aberdeen Angus £128 from a Glenanne producer.

Another large entry of 190 calves sold in an exceptionally strong demand.

Good quality bull calves all under six weeks sold from £300 to £410 for a Charolais followed by £400 for a Charolais.

Good quality heifer calves under six weeks sold from £250 to £345 for an Aberdeen Angus followed by £340 for a Hereford.

Suitable Friesian bull calves sold from £70 to £110 with several top quality friesians from £120 to £180 each all under six weeks.
