Ewes and lambs selling to £300 at Swatragh Mart

Weekly breeding sheep sale: 1 ewe with 2 lambs at foot to £300. 1 ewe with 1 lamb at foot to £286.

Breeding ewe lambs topped at £194.

Foster ewes to £204.

Thursday evenings sale produced a super trade for almost 400 sheep that were presented at the weekly breeding sheep sale.

A lot more stock required to meet demand.

An excellent show of over 1,050 sheep were presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Saturday 6th March, 300 cull ewes were offered for sale and were an excellent trade topping at £180.00.

Over 700 lambs were presented for sale, which was also met with a much improved trade, lambs topped at £146.00 for heavy sorts.

Weekly cattle sale: Another great show of 70 cattle was presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Monday 8th March which resulted in an outstanding trade for all types of stock on offer.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £1,030 for a 502kg Belgian Blue at £2.05 per kg and to a top of £2.93 per kilo for a Limousin 290kg at £850.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,230 for a 575kg Belgian Blue at £2.14 per kg and to a top of £2.65 per kilo for a Charolais 412kg at £1,090.

Cattle breeding sale: A great show of over 70 cattle were presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Friday night last, which resulted in an outstanding trade for all types of stock on offer.

Sample prices: Maiden heifers sold to an exceptional £1,640 for a fantastic Charolais, other good prices for maidens were - Liam McDonnell Ballycastle producer.

All Simmentals; £1,260, £1,000, £1,000, £1,020, £1,360, £1,240, £1,400, £1,000, £1,320, £1,020, £1,620, £1,000, £1,220 and £1,080.

Other producers: Limousin £1,500; Charolais £1,480; Limousin £1,480 and Belgian Blue £1,380.

An exceptional demand for weanling heifers on the night and they topped at £1,200 for a Limousin.
