In calf heifers selling to £1640 at Markethill Mart

An entry of 740 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 27th March sold in an exceptionally strong demand for both weanlings and store cattle selling in the best trade so far this season.

Heifers

180 heifers returned an outstanding trade with good quality forward feeding heifers selling from £220 to £242 per 100 kilos for 600k Charolais at £1455 from a Loughgall farmer.

The same owner received £239 per 100 kilos fir 600k at £1435.

Beef heifers sold to £231 per 100 kilos for 660k at £1535 from a Katesbridge farmer. The same owner received £228 per 100 kilos for 640k at £1465.

Top price heifer of £1555 was paid for a 700k Charolais at £222 from a Moira farmer.

Good quality middleweight heifers sold from £210 to £238 per 100 kilos for 434k at £1035 for a Cullyhanna farmer followed by £236 per 100 kilos for 468k at £1105 from a Portadown producer.

Good quality light heifers sold from £220 to £259 for 350k at £905 from a Camlough farmer.

The same owner received £250 per 100 kilos for 350k at £885.
