On Saturday 12th October 2024 despite the poor weather conditions – wind, rain and hail stones, Portrush Point to Point horse races once again provided a great day of racing for those that braved the elements.

Entries closed on Tuesday 8th October and there were 62 horses entered.

The track was inspected IHRB track inspector Leo Gracey on Thursday 10th October and the going was given as good.

Race 1 maiden race for four-year-old was sponsored by Dennison Commercials – 28 horses entered, 11 horses ran and eight finished. Best turned out sponsored by Pollock Car Sales was won by Portnablagh with Groom Karen Trayor.

First Kovanis owned by Philip McBurney and trained by Gerald Quinn, second Daydream Nation owned by Milestone Bloodstock Ltd and trained by Colin Bowe and third King Du Brivet owned by Monbeg Syndicate and trained by Donnchadh Doyle.

Race 2 maiden race for five-year-old geldings was sponsored by Tattersalls Ireland and Cunningham Covers. Eleven horses, entered four ran and four finished.

Best turned out sponsored by Pollock Car Sales was won by Diligent Militia with Groom Jansseen Hill

Race 3 maiden race for five-year-old and upwards mares was sponsored by W Oliver Exorna Ltd. Five horses entered, five ran and five finished.

Best turned out sponsored by Pollock Car Sales was won by Currish Lane with Groom Ross McAleese

First Bayonetta owned by Rodney Arthur and trained by Gerald Quinn, second Fiddledee owned by Rebecca Surman and trained by Colin Bowe and third Currish Lane owned by Anthony Mc Aleese and Noel Henry and trained by Paul McAleese

Race 4 open lightweight race was sponsored by Macaulay Wray Solicitors. Six horses entered, five ran and five finished.

Best turned out sponsored by Pollock Car Sales was won by Gorthill with Groom Niall McCarthy.

First Winged Leader owned by Jennifer Okane and John Hegarty and trained by David Christie, second Carnfunnock owned by Simon Munir and Issac Souede and trained by Stuart Crawford and third Gorthill owned by Alan McCaldin and trained by Caroline McCaldin.

Race 5 winners of three was sponsored by The Royal Court Hotel. Eight horses entered, five ran and three finished.

Race 6 maiden race for six-year-old and upwards geldings was sponsored by Semple The Potato People and Maddybenny. Four horses entered, three ran and one finished.

Best turned out was won by Superdermo with Groom Bailey Dunn

First Morale Boost owned by Aidan Darragh and trained by Gerald Quinn.

Morale Boost was the only finisher in the last race.

The Route Hunt appreciates the help provided by all the volunteers on the day as without this help it would not be possible to run the races.
