Markethill Mart: Steady demand with good quality beef bullocks

An entry of 940 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 24th April brought the total throughout for the week ending the 24th April to 1340 cattle.

Trade in all rings continued to be very firm.

Bullocks

The 220 bullocks sold in a steady demand with good quality beef bullocks from £208 to £220 per 100 kilos for 670k at £1475 from a Markethill farmer followed by £219 per 100 kilos for 660k at £1455 from a Newtownhamilton farmer.

Forward feeding bullocks sold to £243 per 100 kilos for 520k at £1265 from an Armagh producer followed by £242 per 100 kilos for 556k at £1345 from a Dromara farmer.

Main demand for good quality feeding bullocks from £210 to £230 per 100 kilos.

Good quality middleweight bullocks sold from £210 to £243 for 442k at £1075 from a Newtownhamilton farmer followed by £231 per 100 kilos for 426k at £985 for a Tandragee producer.

Friesian bullock trade was exceptionally strong to a top of £194 per 100 kilos for 610k at £1185 from a Katesbridge farmer.

Main demand for good quality Friesians from £175 to £193 per 100 kilos for 650k from a Katesbridge farmer.
