Markethill Mart: Suckler outfits selling to a top of £2750

A total throughput of just over 1100 cattle commencing the week 15th February at Markethill culminated in an entry of 750 cattle on Saturday 20th February.

Trade in all rings continued to remain very firm with weanling prices in particularly exceptionally strong.

Heifers

250 heifers sold readily with good quality forward feeding heifers from £210 to £233 per 100 kilos for a 504k at £1175 from a Keady farmer followed by £232 per 100 kilos for 506k Limousin at £1175 from a Poyntzpass producer.

Beef heifers sold to £221 per 100 kilos for 618k at £1365 from an Armagh farmer with a top price of £1445 for a 680k Sim £210 from a Crossmaglen producer.

All good quality beef heifers from £200 to £219 per 100 kilos.

Middleweight heifers sold to £250 per 100 kilos for 470k at £1175 from an Armagh farmer followed by £248 per 100 kilos for 434k at £1075 from a Kilkeel farmer.
