Mourne wall challenge raises over £13,000 for Huntington’s Disease

During July Stuart Cromie and a group of friends completed the 22 mile Mourne wall Challenge in aid of Huntington’s Disease NI, taking in 15 of the highest peaks in the Mourne Mountains.

Stuart works for ABP and is a member of Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmer’s Club and plays rugby locally for Banbridge.

He stated: “We’re very grateful to be able to present Huntington’s Disease Association Northern Ireland with a cheque for £13,658.75. We’ve genuinely been blown away by the kindness of every single person who donated and for the support we’ve got during the whole build up to the walk.

“Huntington’s has had a major effect on our family and I’d just like to highlight the work the charity does and raise people’s awareness to the disease. Plenty of long days and nights went into it and I would like to personally thank the 11 other fellas that helped so much towards the whole thing and kept each other going during the walk itself.

“At the start I never really had a target in my head and I just hope we’ve raised as much awareness to the disease as we’ve raised money. It really will go a long way to helping with ongoing projects within the charity.

“I would just like to finally thank everyone that donated or helped us in anyway at all and hope to see everyone out and about somewhere soon,” added Stuart.

Huntington’s Disease Association Northern Ireland provides support to individuals, families and carers living with Huntington’s disease and also provides information, advice and signposting for health and social care professionals.
