Suckler outfits selling to £1800 at Markethill Mart

An entry of 700 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 6th March maintained an exceptionally strong trade in all rings with an exceptionally large entry of 340 weanlings maintaining a very strong demand.

Heifers: 180 heifers sold in a very firm trade with good quality forward feeding heifers from £220 to £249 per 100 kilos for 580k Limousin at £1455 from a Portadown farmer.

The same owner received £241 per 100 kilos for 620k at £1495.

Beef heifers sold to a top of £226 per 100 kilos for 634k at £1435 from a Cullyhanna farmer followed by £224 for 636k at £1425 from a Portadown producer.

Top price of £1485 for 670k £220 from a Dungannon producer.

Main demand for good quality beef heifers from £210 to £220 per 100 kilos.

Good quality middleweight heifers sold steadily from £210 to £243 per 100 kilos with a top of £305 for 470k at £1445 for a Forkhill farmer.
