Young bullock rescued from slurry pit

A young bullock had to be rescued after getting stuck in a slurry pit on the Creamery Road, Coleraine.

Specialist animal rescue firefighters joined local crews in a three hour operation to release the animal.

One Appliance from Omagh Fire Station, one Appliance from Portrush Fire Station, two Appliances from Coleraine Fire Station and the Specialist Rescue Team attended the incident earlier this week.

Commenting shortly after the incident a NIFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a one year old bullock stuck in a slurry tank.

“Firefighters from our large animal rescue team wore breathing apparatuses and used a gas monitor while rescuing the animal from the slurry pit. The incident was dealt with by 1.26pm.”

The bullock was rescued alive and well with no injuries.
