“Young Stars” shine at Clogher
This year with Covid restrictions still in place there was no show part to this event.
There was a total of 41 calves entered from all over the north of Ireland of all different breeds. This year breeding heifer type animals were the big seller, especially roan-coloured heifers.

With both strong ring and new to the sale online bidding from all over the UK and Ireland, it was a red roan Limousin bred heifer from Mr Brian hall that stole the show. This super marked heifer weighed 440kg and sold for £3200.00 to Mr Conor McVeigh from Co. Armagh.
Brian Hall’s run did not end when his second entry another Limousin bred heifer, this one a blue roan marked heifer weighing 475kg, sold to £2550. Following the strong trade for breeding type heifers Mr N Quinn received £2550 for his roan bred Charolais heifer followed by £1800 for his dark red Limousin heifer.
S McGeehan received £2400 for his 415kg Charolais bred heifer - this one selling to keen show woman Jade Tumilty.
McKee Brothers topped at £2000 for their 380kg Limousin heifer selling to D&G Glenn.

Richard Law received £1860 for his 380kg Charolais bred heifer - this one selling to Mr Martin Tumilty.
Following closely behind was Mr Keith Williamson with his entry of a Limousin bred heifer weighing 375kg at £1800 selling to Rodgers Livestock.
Moving onto steers now with a smaller entry of bull and bull calves this year, male calves topped this year at £1800 for a 560kg limousin from Alison Callion selling to Darren Mullan from Co. Armagh.
Alan Veitch sold his Charolais bullock to £1760 weighing at 500kg to Mr Patrick Tomney.
Other highlights:
Miss Laura Irvine Blue heifer 485kg at £1700 to C Brown.

Sam’s Martin Limousin heifer 410kg at £1700 to Owen Kerrigan.
Brian Weatherup Beef Shorthorn heifer 305kg at £1650 to J&C Cummings.
A total number of 972 viewers watching online with 28% of the sale animals being purchased by online buyers. Sale average was £1587 for a total of 38 animals sold.
Commercial Club Secretary Elizabeth Rodgers said: “With the uncertain times regarding summer shows there still was a keen interest from buyers to pick up that show potential animal to bring to fatstock sales at the end of year. We hope to have this event back to a show and sale next year.”
