BDS to hold annual show

The Northern Ireland Branch-British Driving Society will hold their annual show on Saturday 4th July 2015 at The Meadows Equestrian Centre Ltd, Lurgan, commencing at 10am.

The sponsors are Agnew Recovery Services, (Ballyclare), Doagh Equestrian and Farm Feeds, (Ballyclare) and Margaret Carlisle (Lisburn).

The Judge is Mr PL Mills (England) selected from The British Driving Society panel of judges. Mr Jim Shannon MP will judge the Concours D’elegance and Show Drive and present the winner with a trophy and all the competitors will receive a rosette.

The show director Eugene Larkin and the stewards are looking forward to a busy day with competitors and spectators coming from The mainland, southern Ireland plus those from all over Northern Ireland. The highlight of the day will be the Show Drive at 12.45pm approximately. Taking part will be Pairs, Trade Vehicles, i.e. Butchers Cart, Milk Float, also Gigs, Governess Vehicles etc.

There are 16 Classes commencing at 10.00 a.m. with Mountain and Moreland in hand, and the Private Driving Classes commence immediately afterwards with Novice Driving Horse etc. There are classes to suit all competitors who must be British Driving Society Members. Several of the classes are qualifiers for Osborne Refrigerators BDS National Championships 2015.

A groom must be aged 12 years or over on the day of the show. Junior Whips must be BDS members.

Drivers/Grooms/Passengers under 14 years must wear safety hat when in the carriage or in attendance to a turnout. When in a vehicle grooms, passengers and drivers must have their feet on the floor or use a firmly fixed footrest.
