CAFRE Enniskillen Campus student Martina O’Kane from Ballymena is currently completing her eight weeks work placement at Crindle Stables as part of her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management.
Crindle Stables is a livery, competition and riding school in Limavady.
As part of the Level 3 Horse Management programme, students are required to complete 10 weeks work placement.
However, earlier in the year, Martina was lucky enough to be selected to undertake the Erasmus+ programme with Enniskillen Campus. European Funding was secured to support Martina to travel to Holland for 16 days where she got a fantastic experience working in a top competition yard in a different country. This also meant that she had already completed two of her ten weeks work experience.
Equine Lecturer, Kathryn Hazlett recently paid Martina a visit to monitor her progress while on work placement.
During the visit, Martina stated: “I’m really enjoying my time here; I’m learning loads and getting to try new tasks and learn new skills.”
Hazel Patterson, her employer, is very pleased with her progress: “Martina works hard, is enthusiastic, motivated, a great communicator, engages well with clients, works well alone and as part of a team. She is willing to contribute and help in all aspects of the business. Overall she is a great student.”
