CAFRE Enniskillen Campus student Danielle Westall, from Holywood, is busy completing her work placement at Laurelview Equestrian Centre in Ballyclare, Co Antrim, as part of her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management.
Students are required to complete 10 weeks work placement as part of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management programme. Additional to this, earlier in the year, Danielle was selected to undertake the Erasmus+ programme with Enniskillen Campus.
European Funding was secured to support Danielle to travel to Holland for 16 days where she got a fantastic experience working on a yard in a different country.
Equine lecturer Arlene Doris recently paid Danielle a visit at Laurelview to monitor her progress while on work placement.
During the visit, Danielle explained: “I am enjoying getting riding each day, and the opportunity to improve my stable management skills.
“I also got to see the vet take x-rays, which I have had no previous experience with.”
Along with general stable duties and exercising horses, Danielle has been assisting with lessons and BHS Preliminary Teaching Test training. Laurel Faloona, yard manager, is pleased with Danielle’s progress.
“Danielle is very pleasant and willing to learn. She gets involved and interacts with staff and students. I would like to see her work towards BHS exams.”
