Ecclesville’s Christmas Cracker Show was a great event with competitors coming from far and wide to jump Raymond Caldwell’s courses.

This Show is going from strength to strength and many of the 112 riders (and ponies) got into the festive spirit and turned out in an array of festive costumes.

The judges of the fancy dress parade, sponsored by RD Equestrian, were spoilt for choice with Santa elves, Santa, and a Frozen character to choose from.

The large crowd of enthusiastic spectators were entertained with great jump-offs and also a fun novelty class. Nine very competitive pairs took on the popular Run and Ride Pairs competition, which was won by Clara Daly running and Freya Sayle riding Fenaghbeg Ever.

The open classes were very exciting as many of the combinations made it through to the timed rounds. The 60cm Class was won by the very consistent Nadia Donnelly and Belle. Out of a field of 27 starters, the 80cm red ribbon went to Clara Daly riding her lovely pony, The Magic Minstrel and in the 1m Class Rachel Tuhoey and the very speedy, Rocket, picked up the top place.

The show organisers are grateful to RD Equestrian for sponsoring the fancy dress parade of this very popular Show. Also thanks to Raymond Caldwell, assisted by Chloe Flood and Malvern Moore, for the great courses and thanks to Rachel Magee, assisting in the judging box.

There will be an exciting new venture for the Ecclesville team as they introduce a new Super League for 2016. Competitors can win points at the league finals throughout the year and at the end of 2016 perpetual cups, sponsored by local businesses, will be awarded to the overall winner in each class.
