Wednesday 24th June saw the final of the Ards Riding Club summer show jumping competitions.
The hope for good weather was realised and indeed the organisers couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
Course builder Simon Jackson set the riders a challenge as they worked out how best to shave seconds off the speed round, providing some exciting turns.
The 60/70cms class was won by Caitlin and Suzie Stewart’s Princess Peachy and the duo also won the trophy presented by the Robinson family for the highest placed horse/rider combination over the five weeks.
Sarah Brashaw and Echo rose to the occasion taking first place in the 80/90cms but it was Caitlin’s night as she again lifted the Robinson trophy, this time on her own pony, Fat Boy.
Placings in the 90cms/1m class were fought out between Regan McKee and Willow and Toby Finn and Over to Jones with both having four faults but Regan winning on time.
This posed a dilemma as it left the two on equal points for the trophy.
In an exciting jump off Toby managed to win the trophy by 2.69 seconds.
It was a great finale to the competitions.
The club would like to thank the Robinson family for once again hosting everyone and for the lovely trophies, Ava Bar and Restaurant, Bangor and Foster Equestrian Supplies, Newtownards for their sponsorship.
Thanks too to everyone who helped build and dismantle courses, judge and steward and last but not least Janinne Thompson for some brilliant photographs.
