Bank Holiday Monday 4th May sees in the start of another driving show season and what a way to start it at the state of the art Tullymurry Equestrian Centre, Downpatrick as it hosts The Indoor Driving Extravaganza.
The show, now in its third year, is rightly proud of being the only show in Ireland that can boast of being affiliated to the British Driving Society, Hackney Horse Society and the Victoria Foods Championships.
This is no small measure as it is a massive achievement considering the short length of time the show has been running and each year it continues to grow in strength.
This year is no exception as the interest shown is greater than ever with lots of enquiries from competitors both north and south of the border on what promises to be a great feast of carriage driving at its best.
The show will include in hand classes, hackney driving, private drive and trade classes also junior whip and concours de’ elegance driving classes.
The judge on the day will be Mr Geoff Dudley, Woodside Farm, Brentwood, Essex, England, who is a BDS and Hackney panel judge who will be home from America on time to oversee the days proceedings.
Geoff has competed at the very highest level winning many shows in his illustratious career both in hand and in harness. He also has judged at most of the biggest and prestigious shows in England.
The compere for the day is the distinguished Mr Gordon Bell who will keep everyone well informed on both the animals and vehicles with his vast experience.
All in all it is most definitely the place to be at for all driving enthusiasts, considering that on the adjoining lands the Northern Ireland Carriage Driving Association are organising and holding a one day event. Going by previous years this proves to be a very enjoyable and exciting occasion.
The organisers of the show would also like to put on record their very sincere thanks to all those who have sponsored or helped in anyway. So come along on Bank Holiday Monday, to Tullymurry Equestrian Centre, Downpatrick with the indoor event starting at 1pm (free admission). Also see Facebook The Whip and Collar Club.
