Plans in place for International Carriage Driving Festival

The 17th annual BDS Ballynahinch International Carriage Driving Festival will take place on Saturday 30th May 2015 in Langley Road Playing Fields, by kind permission of Newry, Mourne and Down Council, commencing at 10am.

The first class of the day is the Mountain and Moreland in Hand. There are classes to suit all tastes including Shetland Pony Driving, Donkey and Cart Driving, Hackney to a show wagon, Junior Whip, Light Trade, plus the various Private Driving Classes.

The highlight of the day will be the cavalcade of traditional type vehicles at the playing fields from 2pm. The winner will be presented with the W G. Alexander Memorial Perpetual Challenge Cup.

There will be a championship for the In Hand Classes, the Exercise Vehicle Class, Hackney Horse driven to a show wagon and Private Driving classes.

The Judge is Mr. G. Marks (England) chosen from The British Driving Society Panel of Judges. The Show Director is Mr. Robert Smyth, vice chairman Northern Ireland Branch-British Driving Society.

The running of the Ballynahinch Show has been made possible through the generosity of funding and also the Sponsor Margaret Carlisle (Lisburn).

The show is organized by the Northern Ireland Branch – British Driving Society. All horses/ponies entered for the Show must be the bona fide property of a BDS Member and driven by a BDS Member.

All competitors must be members of the British Driving Society.
