The Ulster Region committee of Showjumping Ireland has unveiled TRI Equestrian NI as the 2016 title sponsor for both the Spring Pony Series and the Ulster Region Development League.

Established in the Curragh, in the heart of horse country in Co Kildare over 30 years ago, TRI Equestrian is Ireland’s premier equine retailer. Their flagship store at the Curragh and the TRI brand have been strengthened in recent years with the opening of a state of the art retail outlet at the Meadows Equestrian Centre in Lurgan.

Speaking at the launch of the TRI Equestrian series, Manager of TRI Equestrian Northern Ireland Gareth McCombe said: “All at TRI Equestrian are delighted to be associated with such a prestigious series.We look forward to raising the profile of this series furthermore over the next three years and aim to insure that all our riders from grass roots to the riders at the top level of our sport want to be involved.”


Kicking off the pony series will be the Cavan Equestrian Centre’s Easter Pony Weekend, 25-27th March. The series will run with nine legs with rounds in all corners of the province and classes ranging from 128 50cm to Children On Horses 1.20m which this year also caters for Junior riders. The series culminates in a finale at the Meadows Equestrian Centre on 25th June.

Following the success of the 2015 Pony Tour, newly appointed chairperson of the Ulster Region Pony committee Chris Bogle said: “The TRI Equestrian Spring Pony Series will once again provide a prestigious platform for both the novice athlete and pony as well as the seasoned campaigner.

“We are delighted to have TRI Equestrian as our new sponsor and their support of both the Series and Development League.”

TRI Equestrian Pony Series Dates are:

26th March- Cavan Equestrian Centre; 2nd April- Eglinton; 9th April- Kernans Equestrian; 10th April- MacKenzies Equestrian Centre; 16th April- RDA Coleraine; 17th April- Connellhill; 23rd April- Portmore Equestrian; 24th April- Lusks; 4th June- Meadows Equestrian Centre.

Final - Meadows Equestrian Centre 25th June.

Following the 2015 Summer Tour which crowned Jordan Coyle as the 2015 1.35m Champion, 2016 sees the TRI Equestrian Ulster Region Development League create a spectacular launch pad for 1m, 1.10, 1.20m and 1.35m athletes

The 2016 TRI Equestrian Development league will see a total of 18 legs played out across the Ulster Region. Portmore Equestrian Centre will host the first leg of the Tour on 1st May with the league coming to a close in a grand finale at Balmoral Park on 3rd September.

TRI Equestrian Development dates are: Portmore 1st May; Cavan 13th – 15th May; Causeway Coast Show Jumpers - 29th May; Meadows Equestrian Centre 3rd – 5th June; Banbridge - 11th June; Enniskillen - 18th June; Kernans - 19th June; Mid Antrim - 25th June; Omagh - 1st-2nd July; Portmore - 9th–10th July; Cavan - 15th–17th July; Antrim Agricultural - 23rd July; Clogher - 27th July; County Londonderry Agricultural - 30th July; Mackenzies - 6th August; Connell Hill - 13th August; Meadows Equestrian Centre - 18th-21st August; Cavan Equestrian Centre 26th – 28th July.
