Will it be third time lucky for Santa ride?

Saintfield Christmas Charity Ride had to be postponed o Saturday the second time due to snow, followed by constant heavy rain from early morning right through most of the day.

Event organiser Joan Cunningham was devastated at having to postpone the annual Santa Ride for a second time.

She said: “This would be the ninth ride and we have been so fortunate with the weather every year with the exception of 2010 when heavy snow brought everything to a stand still. We have now re-scheduled for Saturday, December 19, and as this is our last date possible we are hoping and praying it will be third time lucky.”

All the usual arrangements will stand with everyone meeting at Saintfield Livestock Mart at 11am for a mulled wine and mince pie reception.

Santas will mount up and leave the Mart at noon and are scheduled to arrive on Saintfield Main Street at 1pm led by Father Christmas in his wonderful Horse Drawn Carriage.
