An entry of 1870 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday sold in a steady trade.
Heavy hoggets sold to £90 to £94.50 each and up to 365p per kilo for 24 kilos at £87.50 each. Main demand for good quality pens sold from 338p to 363p per kilo. In all, 921 heavy hoggets averaged 27.1 kilos @ £91.80 each (339p).
Middleweight hoggets sold to 402p per kilo for 20.8 kilos @ £83.50 each. All suitable pens sold from 355p to 372p per kilo.
A small number of spring lambs sold to 472p per kilo for 20.6 kilos at £97.50 each. Top price was £109 each.
260 cull ewes sold to £129 each with all good quality ewes from £85 to £119 each. Plainer ewes sold from £60 to £80 each.
A full yard of ewes and lambs sold in a steady demand. Doubles sold to £242 each. Several sold from £180 to £230 each. Singles sold from £140 to £178 each.
