The NI Commercial Cattle Exhibitors Club recently held its Annual General Meeting at the venue of Dungannon Rugby Club.
Ryan Law gave a detailed account of activities that took part throughout 2014 which featured all of the agricultural shows. Points were allocated at these for prizes awarded to stock shown by Club members, and this resulted in Jack Smyth, Strabane winning the title of Show Animal of the Year sponsored by Natural Stockcare.
One of the key events staged by the Club is the Summer Spectacular which was held in August at the former Balmoral Showgrounds. Once again this attracted a bumper entry, with the Kilkeel partnership of Dermot Small and sons coming out on top.
Club Chairman thanked all those who had assisted in helping during the year, with particular mention to exhibitors at the local and national shows. This dedication ensured that commercial cattle were to the fore from the beginning to the end of the show season, with strong numbers forward.
Members were delighted to have David Rankin, Edenkennedy Consultancy join them at this meeting. He gave an interesting and informative update on the Single Farm Payment system, and the changes that are currently involved.
David conducted the election of office bearers which resulted in the following:
Chairman: John Killen; Vice Chairman: Robert Simpson; Secretary: Ryan Law; Ass Secretary: Keith Williamson; Treasurer: Bartley Finnegan; Committee: Declan McKenna, Robert Miller, Dessie Martin, Keith Williamson, Chris Johnston, Robert Simpson, Jonny Neill, Gareth Corrie and Malachy McGrath.
