The June 2015 born Westpit Lampard from Andrew Gammie, Drumforber, Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire, Aberdeenshire, sold for 7,000gns and led another strong trade for Limousin bulls at Aberdeen and Northern Marts Spring Show, Inverurie, on Tuesday 1st March.

Sired by Jalex Itsallgood and out of the Vagabond daughter Greenwell Dior, this 20-month-old bull had earlier picked up the Limousin Supreme Championship in the pre-sale show judged by Tracey Nicol, Balthayock Home Farm, Perth.

Purchasing the top price was N Meldrum, Shenval, Ballindalloch, Banffshire.

Topping the sale at Aberdeen followed hard on the heels of the sale at Carlisle a fortnight earlier where Andrew Gammie made 18,000gns for his bull Westpit Lowry.

Taking the second top price at Aberdeen was Anside Lascard at 6,500gns from Mr and Mrs S Irvine, Anside Pedigree Livestock, Braehead Farm, Drummuir, By Keith, Banffs.

July 2015 born this bull is by Powerful Irish and is out of the Frewstown Breakdance daughter Anside Gale.

Anside Lascard was bought by RS MacKenzie, Dunbeaden House, Bettyhill, Thurso.

In all 16 out of the eighteen bulls forward sold to average a healthy £4,515. Three more bulls sold on the year and averages were up by £390.

Selling at 6,000gns was Shannas Leman from Mr and Mrs J Penny, Shannas, Mintlaw, Peterhead.

This July 2015 born bull is by Goldies Emperor and is out of the Dyke Thunder daughter Shannas Dinah.

Purchasing Shannas Leman was Monymusk Land Estate Office, Monymusk, Inverurie.

Earlier in the catalogue a further Goldies Emperor son, Shannas Lodger also from the Pennys, sold for 4,000gns to Arnage Farms, Ellon.

Knock Legend from Mr A G Howie, West Knock, Stuartfield, Peterhead made 5500gns.

This June 2015 born embryo calf is by the Wilodge Vantastic son Goldies Goldfinger and is out of the Sympa daughter Knock April.

Buying Knock Legend was A M and D M Irvine, Newton Farm, Cairnie, Huntly.

The overall reserve Limousin championship went to M Massie, Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt for his 21-month old Elrick Lord.

Sired by the herd’s 23,000gns stock bull Rahoney Geoffrey and out of Elrick Candy, the May 2015 born Elrick Lord sold for 5,000gns to J Boyne, Whinnyhaugh, Garmouth, Moray.

Two bulls from R S Duncan, Achdregnie, Glenlivet, Ballindalloch made 4,200gns.

The first of these was Livet Largo which went to C and G Gordon. Lost Farm, Strathdon.

Livet Largo, an August 2015 born twin to a male is by the homebred Livet Franco and out of Kilronan Connor.

The second bull at 4,200gns was two lots later in the shape of Livet Loki who was also August 2015 born.

This calf was sired by Livet Ike and is a heifer’s calf being out of Emslies Izbicky. Purchasing this bull was A and M Simpson, Mains of Leslie, Insch.
