An entry of 1270 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 9th December sold in a slightly firmer trade.
Heavy lambs sold to £81each with most pens selling from £71 to £77 each. Top rate of 304p per kilo was paid for 24 kilos at £73 each. All suitable pens sold from 285p to 302p per kilo. In all, 605 heavy lambs averaged 25.2 kilos at £72.50 each (288p).
Middleweight lambs sold from 290p to 323p per kilo for 20 kilos at £64.50 each, followed by 309p per kilo for 23 kilos at £71 each.
Store lambs sold in an exceptionally strong demand. A Ballinahinch farmer received 395p for 16.4 kilos at £65 each. Stronger stores sold to 343p per kilo for 19.2 kilos at £66 each from the same owner. All good quality stores sold from 320p to 364p per kilo for 17.6k at £64 each.
Cull ewes sold to £108 each with all suitable pens from £65 to £88 each.
An entry of In-lamb ewes sold to £140 each with other pens at £135, £130 and £105 each.
