The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute have announced the postponement of the Dairy Open Day at Hillsborough which was scheduled to take place on 16 September.

Announcing the postponement, Dr Sinclair Mayne from AFBI explained: “A single beef steer was identified as a TB reactor during a recent routine herd test.

“The postponement of this major event is a huge disappointment for everyone involved, but planning is already underway for a rescheduled event during Spring 2016”.

Recognising the current difficulties being faced by the local dairy sector, AFBI are planning to host a series of farm walks this autumn, in association with AgriSearch and CAFRE, with a particular focus on winter feeding options to reduce costs.
