Allanfauld and Millar’s provide the spark at Christmas Cracker sale

Friday’s (11 December) Christmas Cracker sale of Texel in-lamb ewes at Carlisle saw a gimmer from the Allanfauld flock of Archie and John MacGregor take the day’s top price of 2200gns, with Martin and Cyril Millar following that with a 2000gns sale.

The day’s top call came for a XMM1406807, an ET bred gimmer by Garngour Ultimatum and out of a dam by Strathbogie Stifler. She goes back to Clynnog Joe Tex on her dam’s side and sold in lamb to Baltier Wellington and with an index of 286. She was bought by Archie Hamilton for the Smyllum flock, Lanark.

Selling at 2000gns was VMG1400981 from Martin and Cyril Millar. This one is by the 42,000gns Tullylagan Tonka and is out of a dam by Sandelford Premier. Going back to Ettrick Mighty Mouse she sold carrying to Knap Vital Spark and was knocked down to J Winter, Appleby in Westmorland.

Next best after that was a 1400gns sale for John Forsyth’s Glenside flock. This was FPG1400822, a triplet born gimmer by Castlecairn Lido and out of a dam by Muiresk Blondin. She was sold in-lamb to the 82,000gns Cornmore Velvet Jacket and with an index of 211. Buying her were Stephen and Caroline Williams for the Wollascott flock, Shrewsbury.

Then making 1200gns was the best of the day from Andrew Kennedy’s Maineview flock, with this being KMR1400370. This gimmer is by Duncryne Uber Cool and out of a dam by Cornerstone Rain Dancer. Selling carrying a single to Tophill White Knight, she was the choice of John Howard, Battersby, Middlesborough.

A total of five then sold at 1000gns, with the first two of these being from the Glenside consignment. First at this money was FPG1400849, a gimmer by Mellor Vale The One and out of a Strathbogie Python daughter. She was bought by C Fielder, Romsey, Hampshire, and sold in lamb to Cornmore Velvet Jacket.

Another in lamb to the same sire, FPG1400851, was the next at 1000gns, with this one being out of a dam by Hull House Space Cowboy and going back to Muiresk Blondin. She sold to G J Butler, Egremont, Cumbria.

Next at this price was a gimmer from the Allanfauld pen of the MacGregors. This was XMM1406818, a daughter of Garngour Ultimatum out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle. In-lamb to Forkins Rocksolid she was bought by M Crabtree, Kettlesing, Harrogate.

Messrs Millar then sold their second best of the day at the same price when R N Kirby and Son, Ainderby Steeple, bought their Milnbank Special One daughter VMG1401042. This ET bred gimmer is out of a dam by Sandelford Premier and sold in lamb to Knap Vital Spark.

The final 1000gns call was the top price of the day for the Tullylagan flock of the Hammond family. This was paid for HPY1400903, a Logie Durno Proclaimer daughter out of a dam by Kelso Photo Finish. Sold in-lamb to Orrisdale Viking she was bougt by M Crabtree, Kettlesing.
