Another strong seasonal entry of cattle at Swatragh

Cattle: Another strong seasonal entry of quality cattle on Monday 7th March sold to a very sharp trade with some exceptional prices, more quality stock is required to meet demand.

Heifers selling to £800 for 406kg with bullocks selling to £795 for 346kgs.

Sheep: A very strong seasonal entry of 725 sheep at Swatragh on Saturday 5th March witnessed a good solid lamb trade. Several pens of heavy lambs sold well in excess of £90.00 each to a top rate of £92.00, middleweight lambs sold to £82.50 for 23.8kg while store lambs were very strong and sold to £74.00 for 17kg, ewes sold to £100.00 while ewes and lambs sold to £158.00.

Store lambs: Desertmartin producer 3 lambs 17kg at 74.00 = 4.35p, Coleraine producer 3 lambs 16.5kg at 59.00 = 358p; Maghera producer 7 lambs 17.75kg at 59.50 = 335p.

Ewes: Maghera producer 1 Texel at 100.00; Coleraine producer 1 Texel at 89.00.
