Busy year for Randalstown

In January Randalstown YFC held their AGM where the new office bearers for 2015/2016 were elected.

In February members of Randalstown YFC practiced and performed their arts festival entitled ‘Lad’s Army’.

The club would like to thank Ian Kernohan and Caroline Kennedy for producing the performance and also Sharon McCaughey and Ian Gillen for helping with the music.

March saw three members, Denver Mills, Andrew Gillespie and Jonathan Gillespie, took part in County Antrim Young Farmers’ charity ‘boxing bulls and heifers’ big night.

The club would like thank the boys for giving up their time to train and congratulate them for their success on the night.

The club held their annual church service where the new committee stepped into place, ready for the year ahead.

At the service Randalstown YFC raised £300 for Friends of Cancer Centre.

Also in March members competed in County Antrim’s dairy stock judging competition, where Amy McFadden and Jordan Foster were placed second in their age groups and will represent the club at the YFCU finals in the summer.

County Antrim AGM brought more success to the club with Lynsey McNeilly being awarded second for most efficient secretary in the county, and Randalstown YFC were also placed third as County Antrim Most Efficient Club.

After successfully passing a number of rounds for club of the year, including making a ten minute promotional video which highlighted the various activities and events that Randalstown YFC takes part in, Randalstown YFC made it through to the final alongside two other clubs.

The final took place at the YFCU AGM and conference in April, where after a nervous wait Randalstown YFC were announced winners of the Club of the Year 2015.

In May Randalstown held their annual sports night where a brilliant 51 teams participated.

The club would like to thank all the clubs that took the time to come.

Also May saw Randalstown YFC annual BBQ take place on Saturday 9th May where over 900 people came and partied till the cows came home.

This was a fantastic turn out and the club hope to see everyone all back next year.

The club would like to congratulate all club members for their hard work and successes throughout the year and look forward to the year ahead.
