There was a brisk trade for Charolais bulls at Dungannon on the 6 November when 22 bulls sold to an average of £2928 and a top price of 5,200gns.
Prices peaked at 5,200gns for T O’Neill, Claudy, Co Derry and his class winner Glenramble Jonah TI +51 SRI +48. This 17 month old son of Alwent Goldbar was purchased by James McCracken, Bellarena, Co Derry.
Mr McCracken’s other purchase at 4,300gns was another Goldbar son, the 15 month old reserve male champion Mullanary Jethro, out of a homebred dam going back to Celtic Bigboy and exhibited by Richard and Paula Hill, Dungannon, Co Tyrone.
Next, selling to John Butler, Ballycastle, Co Antrim for 4,000gns came Brigadoon Jupiter, sired by Royal Capitan and exhibited by WD and JA Connolly, Ballynahinch, Co Down.
The supreme champion from Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, Co Derry also secured 4,000gns. Coolnaslee Jackal TI +39 SRI +36, a 14 month old son of the 12,000gns Maerdy Fiend went home with John McBride, Plumbridge, Co Tyrone.
Mr Crawford also sold the 18 month old Coolnaslee Jefferson sired by the 13,000gns Conval Frank. He was purchased by Malcom Donnelly, Cookstown, Co Tyrone for 2,600gns.
Next at 3,800gns knocked down to Malcolm Fleming, Magherafelt, Co Derry was the 17 month old Admachree Jim TI +66 SRI +59, sired by Blelack Digger and exhibited by Aaron Quigley, Macken, Co Fermanagh.
Bushmills Jose sired by Lissadoair Eden from Victor Chestnutt, Bushmills, Co Antrim was next selling at 3,000gns to Charles Kennedy, Ballyclare, Co Antrim.
A bid of 2,700gns was paid for the first prize winning Drumilly Jackthelad from Jeremy Paynter, Hockley, Co Armagh. This 18 month old sired by the 16,000gns Clyth Diplomat went home with Timothy Wray, Ballymena, Co Antrim.
Three bulls were purchased for 2,500gns. The first, exhibited by S and A Bellew, Newry, Co Down was Kiltybane Jonathon, a son of the 10,000gns supreme Perth champion Thrunton Bonjovi. He sold to Joseph McDonnell, Fvemiletown, Co Tyrone. Next came an Alwent Goldbar son, Altnacree Jonas TI +46 SRI +45 from O Kerrigan and J Conn, Strabane, Co Tyrone who was purchased by James McArthur, Limavady, Co Derry. A final bid of 2,500gns was paid by Shane McCulloch, Crumlin, Co Antrim for Burnside Jagermeister, another son of Clyth Diplomat from Brian McAllister and Son, Ballymena, Co Antrim.
Leading the bids for the females at 3,200gns was the female and reserve supreme champion from LA Richardson and son, Maguiresbridge, Co Fermanagh. Hillviewfarm Jolene, a 19 month old daughter of the 19,000gns Corrie Alan caught the eye of John McGrath, Omagh, Co Tyrone
Just behind on 3,100gns and purchased by Mr Caraher, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh was Solitude Imogen TI +48 SRI +42. This class winner is sired by the home-bred 32,000gns supreme Perth champion Solitude Attaboy and was exhibited by John McMordie, Newtownards, Co Down.
