At the meeting following the annual general meeting of the Charolais Club the following officers were elected for the incoming year.

Chairman: Will Short; Vice Chairman: David Connolly; Treasurer: Trevor Phair; PRO: Robert McWilliams; Youth Officer: Clodagh McGovern; Secretary: Ann Orr.

The new Northern Ireland Charolais chairman is Will Short, owner of the Woodpark herd at Beragh, Omagh. Will is looking forward to rolling out a busy schedule of events this summer and was busy at Balmoral meeting Charolais breeders.

Hot on the heels of Balmoral is the NI Stockjuding event hosted by JA & WD Connolly, Brigadoon Ballynahinch. The big emphasis is on youth development. A raft of skills workshops will be rolled out between 2pm and 5pm covering nutrition, halter making, animal husbandry and dressing & show ring skills. Learn how to use a mini JCB to put the ball in the barrow.

The club is inviting 12-25 years olds to take part, open to all breeds, families with young children can join for the stockjudging at 5pm. This is followed by a barbecue. Adults £5, youths free. The charity of the year is NI Hospice.
